Liberty Luncheon: Campus Free Speech

Liberty Luncheon: Campus Free Speech

At Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss., a student can face disciplinary action including suspension and even expulsion for words that may inflict mental or emotional distress on others. This is part of a common phenomenon throughout the country, where universities are limiting speech that others disagree with or may find offensive.

Conservative speakers are regularly shouted down or disallowed. We have seen riots at Berkeley. All because of the presence of someone who has views that differ from their own. And unfortunately in many of these cases, administrations are all too complacent.

So what can we do and what should we do?

Join Shelby Emmett, Director of the Center to Protect Free Speech at ALEC, and Zack Pruitt, Legal Counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom, for a timely discussion on campus free speech at our next Liberty Luncheon on January 17, 2019.
