The southern United States is the fastest-growing region in the country. States like Tennessee, Texas and Florida have prospered and have become ‘go-to’ places for hundreds of thousands of young Americans entering the labor market.
Mississippi needs to become part of this southern success story – but this will only happen if we cut taxes to make ourselves competitive.
We spearheaded the campaign to cut the state income tax in 2022. As a result, Mississippi will adopt a flat 4-percent income tax.
More recently we worked with a former White House economist to produce a responsible budget for our state.
With a massive budget surplus following our tax cuts, and a historically high cash reserve, we are working on a range of options for further tax cuts, and providing key policymakers with the facts that will allow them to make decisions about further tax cuts.
