Criminals or Congressmen?

There are two methods our society employs when confronting someone who takes money from their children or grandchildren. Either we hold them in utter contempt and send them to jail, or we elect them to Congress and praise them for taking money not only from their children but from our children as well.

This is nothing new, but whatever pretense of fiscal restraint that existed in years past has been laid on the altars of "stimulus" and "bailouts." With our national government's budget already in deficit, Congress continues to borrow literally trillions of dollars that will not be repaid in the next 100 years. And they are borrowing to pay for items that will be gone in the blink of an eye, or in some cases, services that have already been provided.

The debt, however, will remain, and our grandchildren will be paying their entire lives for this mess of pottage the so-called "stimulus" bill will provide to us in this generation. It is the sad consequence of a society that will do whatever it takes to get what we want when we want it. It is time to stop the madness.
