Liberty Luncheon: Melting Pot or Civil War?

Liberty Luncheon: Melting Pot or Civil War?

Are those who suggest we restrict immigration cruel, racist, or nativist bigots? Are those who choose open borders motivated by compassion and egalitarianism? That is what we often hear, but Reihan Salam, the son of Bangladeshi immigrants, turns this argument on its head.

Join Reihan, author of Melting Pot or Civil War?: A Son of Immigrants Makes the Case Against Open Borders, for a discussion on the right immigration policies to serve our long-term national interests at a special Liberty Luncheon co-hosted by MCPP and the National Review Institute on November 15.

Reihan is executive editor of National Review and a National Review Institute Policy Fellow. He is a contributing editor of National Affairs, a member of the board of New America, and an advisor to the Energy Innovation Reform Project and the Niskanen Institute. Previously, Reihan was an associate editor at The Atlantic, a producer for NBC News, a junior editor and editorial researcher at the New York Times, a research associate at the Council on Foreign Relations, and a reporter-researcher at The New Republic.
